Against the background of protest shares, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has promised to enter into the council a law that will strengthen the independence of anti -corruption bodies.
Zelensky said in an appeal July 23 .
According to the President, he had many meetings with government officials, with representatives of law enforcement agencies – SBU, NABU, SAP, Ministry of Internal Affairs, NAPC, DBR. The leaders of these organizations “told each other what has been accumulated for a long time.”
“We have agreed that the heads of institutions will offer a plan of action together, a plan of specific steps that can strengthen the power of law in Ukraine. Of course, everyone heard what people say these days – on social networks, each other, on the streets. It’s all in vain. They analyzed all the concern, all aspects of what should be changed and what should be activated, ”Zelensky said.
The President promised that he would offer the Verkhovna Rada a bill that “will be a response, which will provide force for the law enforcement system. And there will be no Russian influence or interference with the activities of law enforcement agencies, and it is very important – all rules for the independence of anti -corruption institutions will be. And I very much expect from our group of heads of law enforcement and anti -corruption bodies, from the Prosecutor General of Ukraine proposals of those rules that should work. It will be a presidential bill, and we will implement it within the framework of our state transformation strategy. “
We will remind, the Council adopted a law that actually subordinates the NABU and SAP of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
In the capital on July 22, about a thousand people protested against the law approved by the Verkhovna Rada, which eliminates the independence of the National Anti -Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
