President Volodymyr Zelenskyi introduced new sanctions against foreigners and companies connected with the deportation and forced re-education of Ukrainian children. The restrictions are synchronized with the sanctions of Great Britain and also apply to suppliers of components for the Russian military-industrial complex. Separately, Ukraine applied sanctions in accordance with the decisions of the UN Security Council. It is reported Office of the President.

The first decision concerns the synchronization of Ukrainian sanctions with the sanctions policy of Great Britain. Eight individuals and 40 legal entities fell under the restrictions. These are citizens of Russia, Azerbaijan, Singapore and New Zealand who are involved in the forced deportation and re-education of Ukrainian children.

In addition, sanctions were introduced against individuals and companies that supply dual purpose electronics and components to Russia. They are used for the production of missiles and drones, with which the Russian Federation attacks Ukrainian cities and communities.

The list of legal entities includes companies from Russia, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Turkey, India and Singapore. Some of them help Russia circumvent international sanctions, supply industrial machines, aviation equipment, components for “shaheeds”, computer chips and other microelectronics for the Russian military-industrial complex. Also, some companies are involved in the work of the Russian energy sector, oil import and ensuring the activities of the so-called shadow fleet.

The President’s Office reminded that Ukraine has already synchronized 14 packages of partner sanctions this year. Among them are two packages each from the USA and Great Britain, eight packages from the European Union, as well as sanctions from Canada and Japan. The second decree concerns the introduction of sanctions in accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the decisions of the European Union regarding the situation in South Sudan. Eight individuals from the military leadership of this country came under the restrictions.

According to the Ukrainian side, these persons are involved in the continuation of hostilities, disruption of peace negotiations and massive violations of human rights. These include murders, torture, rape, kidnapping, and attacks on hospitals, schools, and churches. Among those under sanctions are the commander of the Defense Forces, the head of the Presidential Guard and the chief of the General Staff of South Sudan.

“Ukraine consistently supports international decisions regarding the protection of the civilian population, in particular women and children, and bringing the guilty to justice,” the President’s Office emphasized.
