Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held discussions with National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov regarding the preparation for upcoming negotiations with Russia. Zelensky pointed out that significant results have been elusive, primarily due to the actions of the Russian side.
The President emphasized that Ukraine is actively working to ensure that the next round of talks yields positive outcomes for both the country and the pursuit of peace. He assured that Kyiv will not hinder efforts towards achieving peace.
Zelensky noted that Washington has recognized that the core issue lies with Moscow. He stated, “During the last meeting in Geneva, the American side clearly identified that the lack of meaningful results is due to the Russians. The next meeting must be substantive, and this is achievable. Today, we discussed several aspects of the negotiation preparations with Rustem Umerov.”
Additionally, Umerov has been tasked with enhancing collaboration with Ukraine’s allies in the Middle East and Turkey to foster greater involvement and support.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to all those genuinely willing to assist Ukraine. He also announced upcoming meetings with European partners, stating, “I have scheduled meetings next week with European allies. We will coordinate closely to ensure Europe is engaged in all processes and continues to strengthen its position.”
President Zelensky is preparing for new negotiations with Russia, emphasizing the need for substantive outcomes. He highlighted the role of international partners and scheduled further meetings with European allies to enhance support for Ukraine.
