On Friday, November 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that he had listened to the report of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. In particular, they discussed the difficult situation in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhiv directions.
Zelensky noted that the military command and brigade command are working on strengthening positions in these two areas.
On November 3, the press officer of the 33rd separate mechanized brigade, Nazar Voytenkov, stated that the situation in the Kurakhiv direction is consistently difficult, and intensive combat clashes continue, both mechanized and on foot.
On November 2, the analysts of the DeepState project reported that recently the pressure on Kurakhove from the side of the occupiers has actively increased with new directions that endanger logistics to the city. In particular, the Russians are actively storming the eastern part of Kurakhovo through Maksimilianivka, running into the eastern outskirts of the city. At the same time, attempts to break through in the Ostrivsky district do not stop.
During November 2-3, the Russian army advanced near Siversk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhovo and Vugledar in the Donetsk region, ISW analysts reported. Active hostilities continue in most areas of the front.
Russian offensive on Pokrovsk
On October 3, analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that the Russians had captured new areas near Pokrovsk.
On October 4, the intelligence center of the Estonian Defense Forces suggested that by the end of the year, Ukrainian troops may be forced to leave Pokrovsk.
On the same day, Serhiy Dobryak, the head of the Pokrovskaya GVA, reported that the Russians were less than 7 km from the city, in which 13,000 residents still remain.
Citing Ukrainian military personnel fighting in the Donetsk region, The Washington Post reported that illegally obtained Starlink terminals helped Russia seize Vugledar and advance on Pokrovsk.
On October 24, representatives of the Pokrovskaya GVA reported that the Russian occupiers had destroyed 80% of the city’s critical infrastructure.
On November 1, ISW specialists reported new Russian advances near Kupyansk, Svatovo, Pokrovsko, Kurakhovo and Vugledar.
