The main topic of communication was the results of the meeting of the Ukrainian delegation with Donald Trump in Florida, where the parties discussed the framework agreement on ending the war. The head of state informed the German partner about the main points of the negotiations in Mar-a-Lago, in particular about the agreement of most points of the peace plan and further steps on the diplomatic track. Zelensky expressed gratitude to Mertz for constant coordination and advice, which helped to form a common European position before the visit to the USA.
An important part of the conversation was the refutation of the Kremlin’s latest provocation, which Zelensky called a Russian fake. It is about Moscow’s statements regarding the alleged attempt of Ukrainian drones to attack Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region on the night of December 29.
