Volodymyr Zelenskyi held a meeting with the Ukrainian negotiating team, which reported on the latest contacts with the US and Russian delegations. The President discussed the status of work on key documents that should determine the conditions for the end of the war, and also agreed on the schedule of further meetings. “I believe that more progress is needed. I defined the framework for further dialogue for the team and we are working out a schedule of the necessary steps. We will inform our European partners about the state of the negotiations and the real prospects of the entire negotiation process,” Zelensky emphasized.
The head of state emphasized that the main goal of Ukraine is to obtain a result with real security guarantees. “Ukraine did not start this war, and it is Russia that must end the war. It is important that partners continue to be active, work for peace together with us and accept all realistic proposals. I thank the United States for its willingness to help,” he added.
We will remind that the USA already tried to implement a peace plan for Ukraine in 2025, which consisted of 28 points. However, it was primarily beneficial to Russia, and Kyiv, together with Washington, refined it for more balanced conditions.
The President emphasized that the successful end of the war depends on the active work of the Ukrainian team and the support of international partners, in particular, in the provision of security guarantees and realistic proposals for a peaceful settlement.
Also, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with the Minister of Defense of France Catherine Vautrin, who is in Kyiv on a visit.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Russia is facing serious financial problems and this could make the Kremlin think about a pause in the war.
