That is known about the law
The law includes amendments that restrict the powers of NABU and SAP and transfer them to the Prosecutor General.
The document provides the following changes:
- The Prosecutor General receives access to all NABU proceedings;
- The Prosecutor General has the right to give mandatory instructions to detectives and change the jurisdiction of cases;
- The Prosecutor General will receive the authority to close the proceedings on the basis of the Protection Party;
- The Prosecutor General will be able to personally sign reports of suspicion to senior officials;
- The head of the SAP loses the right to join the prosecutor group – this will only be solved by the Prosecutor General.
We will remind, the Verkhovna Rada approved the bill on July 22 – it was supported by 263 deputies.
NABU and SAP position
The adoption of the bill has caused considerable resonance. In particular, NABU stated that this is how the SAP leader becomes a nominal figure, and NABU loses independence and turns into a unit of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
“The anti -corruption infrastructure of Ukraine, built since 2015, will be destroyed. We urge the deputies to refrain from voting, which can finally destroy the independence of the anti -corruption system in Ukraine, ”the message said.
Moreover, NABU Director Semen Krivonos appealed to Zelensky not to sign the document.
The Ambassadors of the G7 countries also responded to these events. They declared their concern.
“G7 monitors today’s NABU events, in particular, an investigation against several NABU staff on suspicion of crimes. We met NABU today, we have serious concern and intend to discuss these events with the government leadership, ”the statement said.
NABU staff suspicions

But in the SBU they stated a comprehensive inspection of the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on compliance with the legislation on state secrets. The department emphasized that they did not access the secret information.
We will remind, the Verkhovna Rada supported the amendments to the Law No. 12414, which in fact subordinates the National Anti -Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Thus, the document limits the independence of these bodies.
