On Wednesday, February 5, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed laws on the continuation of martial law and mobilization in Ukraine from February 8 to May 9, 2025. This is stated in the draft laws 4220-IX and 4221-IX.

The President introduced trees on the extension of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine on January 14, and on January 15, the Parliament voted for the relevant draft laws.

In Ukraine, the fourteenth time has continued martial law and mobilization, which expired on February 8, 2025.

The previous martial law was extended until February 7, 2025.

Volodymyr Zelensky stated in an interview with Pierce Morgan that it is impossible to hold elections in Ukraine due to martial law. He also stressed that Ukraine cannot cancel the martial law now, as Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants it. In case of abolition of martial law, most Ukrainian military will return home to their families.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that elections in Ukraine could be held immediately after the abolition of martial law. The head of the party’s servant Olena Shuliak stated that the elections could be held no earlier than six months after the end of the war. This time is needed in the electoral process, in particular, the military.
