The president stated that he had “a very meaningful and open conversation with President Trump.”
“I thanked him for the good and productive start of the Ukrainian and American teams in Jedda on March 11 – this meeting of the teams helped to move to the termination of the war,” Zelensky added.
According to him, they agreed that Ukraine and the United States should continue cooperation to “achieve a real cessation of war and long peace.”
Trump shared with Zelensky details of conversation with Putin and the key issues that were discussed.
“One of the first steps before the complete cessation of the war may be to stop the strikes on energy and other civilian infrastructure. I supported this step, and Ukraine confirmed that we are ready to implement it, ”the President wrote.
Zelensky added that the teams were discussing this step in Jeddy. The US side also offered an unconditional ceasefire on the front line, and Ukraine has accepted this proposal.
“We will continue to work for it. We believe that such steps are necessary to create an opportunity to prepare a comprehensive peace agreement during the ceasefire, ”the Head of State emphasized.
Zelensky also told Trump about the situation on the battlefield and the consequences of Russian blows, about the situation in the Kursk region. In addition, the issues of release of prisoners of war, the return of Ukrainian children and the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense were concerned.
“We have instructed our teams to resolve technical issues related to the implementation and expansion of the partial ceasefire. Ukrainian and American teams are ready to meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to continue coordination of steps on the way to peace, ”Zelensky wrote.
Further meetings of the teams can coordinate all the necessary aspects of advancement to long peace and security guarantees, the President stressed.
“I thanked the Trump President and the American people for their support. I stressed that Ukrainians want peace, so Ukraine has accepted a proposal for an unconditional ceasefire.
