The President withdrew the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Bargilevich, and appointed Andrei Gnatov to his place.
The Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov wrote about it on Facebook. Before that, Gnatov held the position of deputy chief of the General Staff.
“Today, according to my submission, the President of Ukraine appointed the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Major General Gnatov Andriy Viktorovich. He has more than 27 years of military experience, commanded the Marine Corps Brigade, the East of the Operational Command “and the United States of the Armed Forces. He was also appointed by Lieutenant General Anatoly Vladislavovich by the General Inspector of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. His task is to control compliance with military standards and strengthen military discipline, ”Umerov wrote.
Umerov thanked Bargilevich for his office as the Chief of Staff and assured that he was “staying in the team” – he would continue his service as the General Inspector of the Ministry of Defense.
“Today, his examination is necessary for reforming the main inspection and implementation of modern control mechanisms in defense forces, which will increase the discipline, efficiency and combat capability of our troops,” the minister said.
Major General Andrei Gnatov was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces on February 27. In a new position, he was responsible for generation of forces and cooperation with partners.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Deputy Minister of Defense Yevgeny Moysyuk and Valery Churkin.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Major General Michael Drapatyi received a new appointment-he will head the operational-strategic group of troops (Osv) “Khortytsa” in Donetsk region. At the same time, he will remain in the post of commander of the Land Forces.
