This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during a press conference following his participation in the summit of the European Political Community.
“But there is a dangerous rhetoric. We understand who raises and implements it. As for the ceasefire. First a ceasefire, and then we’ll see. A very scary challenge for all our citizens. He reminded that the cease-fire, which has been in place since 2014, when the Russians occupied Crimea and part of Donbas, ended with the Russian Federation preparing for a full-scale invasion.
According to the president, this indicates that the ceasefire, when there are no security guarantees for Ukraine, is “preparation for the continuation of the occupation of Ukraine and the destruction of our independence and sovereignty.”

Zelensky recalled that when he became the president of Ukraine in 2019, he agreed with Putin on the exchange of “all for all”.
“Then they exchanged 130 people, not “everyone for everyone”. That’s why you can’t say “we’ll see later”. This is completely unprofessional, and the worst thing is irresponsible. There must be a clear plan,” the head of state emphasized.
The president believes that every leader has the right to express his opinion, but not engage in propaganda.
“Because first you have influence on your society, then on others, and then suddenly you are a decision maker. Decision maker is the one who can stop the war now. If you cannot stop the war now and cannot do it for 10 years, then you are not a decision maker,” he said.
Zelenskyi also added that it is strange to hear proposals for a ceasefire from a country that opposes Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
“Cease-fire is offered to you by a leader who is against Ukraine in NATO. Imagine this nonsense. Why? Because the ceasefire comes when the victim knows that he will have security guarantees. Therefore, a leader who proposes a ceasefire, but opposes security guarantees, is just an orator,” the president emphasized.
In addition, Zelenskyi commented on why the bilateral agreement between Hungary and Ukraine has not yet been signed – there is only what Hungary demands.
Zelensky also said at the press conference that he doubts Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in 24 hours.
