The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, has appointed the first deputy head of the State Border Service Valery Vavrynyuk as the temporary acting head of the department.
The corresponding decree No. 10/2026 of January 4, 2026 was published on the official website of the president.
The former head of the State Border Service, Serhiy Deineko, has been appointed an adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko. After a short period of rehabilitation, he will also head the combat unit of the State Border Service.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is considering possibility the dismissal of Vasyl Malyuk from the position of head of the Security Service of Ukraine, followed by his appointment to another strategic, but less important position.
