The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced the start of the implementation of an ambitious program, the goal of which is to create a fleet of 250 modern combat aircraft, which will include F-16, Gripen and Rafale.

This became known during a press conference on October 27, where he emphasized the importance of this project for updating the military aviation of Ukraine in the conditions of an active war.

Zelensky noted that the negotiations on the purchase of aircraft are being conducted simultaneously with Sweden, France and the USA, and emphasized the importance of the Swedish Gripen, which are the most optimal in terms of maintenance costs and the speed of pilot training.

As part of the program, a preliminary agreement has already been reached on the supply of 150 Gripen aircraft, as well as on the localization of production in Ukraine, which, according to the president, is a historic agreement.

According to the plans, these new aviation platforms will not only strengthen air defense, but also integrate Ukrainian defense capabilities into international security systems. Thus, the realities of military threats require a quick and effective response, which will provide a new fleet, which will become the basis for the development of the Air Force of Ukraine.
