In Khmelnytskyi, a group of children came to the aid of a police patrol crew whose car was stuck on a snowy road due to a powerful cyclone.

This was reported by Khmelnytskyi LIVE.

The incident took place on Peremogy Street, where the police car began to skid due to unclean roads and ice and could not continue moving on its own. A video of the event, which quickly spread on local Telegram channels, recorded how about ten children of various ages organized an organized push on the vehicle until it pulled into a cleared area.

The situation on the roads of the regional center remains extremely tense due to the long heavy snowfalls that covered the western and central regions of Ukraine at the beginning of January 2026. The municipal services of the city work 24/7, but the rate of precipitation significantly complicates the movement of both private and operational vehicles. Authorities are urging drivers to refrain from non-essential travel, and pedestrians to be careful near roads, where the work of special equipment may continue for another week.

Such manifestations of public solidarity in the conditions of bad weather and war become an important support for law enforcement officers, who are currently working in an intensified mode to protect the rear from internal threats and probable provocations from the Russian Federation or Russia. Helping children by policemen in Khmelnytskyi became another evidence of community cohesion in the face of common challenges. The law enforcement officers thanked the young assistants for their initiative, stressing the importance of mutual assistance during a natural disaster.

Meanwhile, in Kyiv, on January 8, the elements paralyzed the work of communal electric transport. High-speed trams have stopped, and trolleybuses also sparkle through the icy wires.

Also, due to difficult weather conditions, trees are already falling in Kyiv and the region.

Due to the sudden cold and possible impacts on the energy systems, the city authorities call on the residents of Kyiv to take care of safety and comfort in advance.

The energy company DTEK officially announced the transition to an enhanced mode of operation in Kyiv and the Kyiv region due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions on January 8, 2026.
