Presidential Head Andriy Yermak stated that Ukraine was ready for peace talks, but only after a complete ceasefire.
He said this in an interview with the German edition of Die Zeit, the excerpts of which he posted in his Telegram.
“We want peace, but its onset depends not only on us. If it all depended on Ukraine, this war would have long been completed. But the reality is that Russia does not demonstrate a genuine desire to stop aggression, ”Yermak said.
According to him, more than 50 days ago, US President Donald Trump proposed a full 30-day ceasefire, which Ukraine agreed. Russia declared a “three -day truce to the parade” in response.
“We are ready for negotiations, but only after a full ceasefire. This is the position of Ukraine, the USA and our European partners, ”Yermak stressed.
He also added that Kiev will not concede to its sovereignty: “Our red lines are the Constitution, international law and the UN Statute. We never recognize the occupation of our territories. “
At the same time, the chairman of the OP recognized that some issues would have to be discussed directly with Russia – but only if Moscow will also be ready for the negotiation process.
Yermak also noted that Ukraine has shown itself a responsible and constructive partner, mentioning the recently signed security agreement with the United States, which he called “the basis of future security through the economy.”
“Ukraine continues the struggle. Because we do not have another country. And we have the power to win not only war – but also peace, ”he summed up.
Before that, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Ukraine is not carrying responsibility for events that can happen in Russia on May 9. Kyiv does not recommend the leaders of other countries to go to Moscow.
Meanwhile, Putin suggested three -day “truce” on May 9 won’t get closer Real peace, it is only useful to Moscow, says the head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
