The DBR has completed the pre -trial investigation of the case of five officials of the Chernivtsi customs, who are charged with official negligence. They did not charge 45.5 million hryvnias from import clothing.
According to the DBR, in August 2022, during the registration of import of clothing from Turkey, customs did not check the truth of the data specified in the documents. Because of this, the cargo was illegally exempted from compulsory customs payments for more than UAH 40 million.
Due to the timely response of law enforcement officers, the customer of the goods still paid UAH 45.5 million to the state budget.
Officials are accused of carelessness, which caused grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to five years.
The procedural leadership is carried out by the Chernivtsi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region.
Earlier it was reported that during January-September 2024 customs officers found 7 259 violations of the Rules for UAH 17 billion.
During January-September 2024, goods were imported in Ukraine worth $ 51.2 billion. Most from China, Poland and Germany, the State Customs Service reported.
