As of 08:00 on January 1, the level of air pollution in the capital remains low. At the stationary monitoring point at the address of st. Turivska, 28 recorded the lowest level of pollution. The radiation background in the whole city is within normal limits.

It is reported Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change of the KMDA.

At the stationary atmospheric air monitoring station at the address St. Turivska, 28 general air quality index* – 15 (very low level of pollution).

The content of pollutants is:

  • substances in the form of suspended solid particles, undifferentiated by composition (TSP) – 11.7 μg/m3 (maximum permissible concentration – 500 μg/m3), in particular, dust fraction 2.5 μm (PM2.5) – 7.3 μg/m3, dust fraction 10 μm (PM10) – 9.7 μg/m3;
  • nitrogen dioxide – 25.8 μg/m3 (MPC – 200 μg/m3);
  • carbon monoxide – 284.4 μg/m3 (MPC – 5000 μg/m3);
  • ozone – 34.4 μg/m3 (MPC – 160 μg/m3);
  • nitrogen oxide – 7.3 μg/m3 (MPC – 400 μg/m3).

The radiation background is 0.123 μSv/h.

At the stationary atmospheric air monitoring station at the address 97 Beresteyskyi Avenue general air quality index* – 53 (average level of pollution).

The content of pollutants is:

  • substances in the form of suspended solid particles, undifferentiated by composition (TSP) – 7.4 μg/m3 (limit permissible concentration – 500 μg/m3), in particular, dust fraction 2.5 μm (PM2.5) – 6.3 μg/m3, dust fraction 10 μm (PM10) – 6.8 μg/m3;
  • nitrogen dioxide – 12.3 μg/m3 (MPC – 200 μg/m3);
  • sulfur dioxide – 133.1 μg/m3 (MPC – 500 μg/m3);
  • carbon monoxide – 285.3 μg/m3 (MPC – 5000 μg/m3);
  • ozone – 62.9 μg/m3 (MPC – 160 μg/m3);
  • nitrogen oxide – 0.7 μg/m3 (MPC – 400 μg/m3).

The radiation background is 0.098 μSv/h.

At the stationary atmospheric air monitoring station at the address St. Chinaivska, 22 general air quality index* – 28 (low level of pollution).

The content of pollutants is:

  • substances in the form of suspended solid particles, undifferentiated by composition (TSP) – 15 μg/m3 (limit permissible concentration – 500 μg/m3), in particular dust fraction 2.5 μm (PM2.5) – 10.9 μg/m3, dust fraction 10 μm (PM10) – 13.4 μg/m3;
  • nitrogen dioxide – 8.3 μg/m3 (MPC – 200 μg/m3);
  • sulfur dioxide – 20.2 μg/m3 (MPC – 500 μg/m3);
  • carbon monoxide – 353.8 μg/m3 (MPC – 5000 μg/m3);
  • ozone – 61.8 μg/m3 (MPC – 160 μg/m3);
  • benzene – 0.1 μg/m3 (MPC – 1500 μg/m3);
  • nitrogen oxide – 0.5 μg/m3 (MPC – 400 μg/m3).

The radiation background is 0.095 μSv/h.

The Common Air Quality Index (CAQI) is formed automatically based on indicators of several main pollutants: PM2.5 and PM10 (dust particles), SO2 (sulfur dioxide), NO2 (nitrogen dioxide), O3 (ground-level ozone), CO (carbon monoxide). The lower the CAQI, the better the air quality.

Snowfall has covered almost all of Ukraine, utility workers are working in an intensified mode.
