According to Ukrainian intelligence, there are already 11,000 troops from North Korea in the Kursk region of Russia. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced this on Monday, November 4.
He noted that he had held a Stavka, at which the GUR and the Foreign Intelligence Service reported separately.
“As for North Korean troops on the territory of Russia, there are already 11,000 in the Kursk region. We see an increase in North Koreans and we do not see an increase in the reaction of our partners, unfortunately,” Zelenskyy said.
He also added that at the meeting special attention was paid to the issues of air defense and the increase of domestic production of weapons.
According to the head of state, the Russian troops have intensified their attacks using mortars and aerial bombs.
“This terror is increasing every month. More countermeasures are needed. This concerns both the strengthening of mobile fire groups and the implementation of the real practice of shooting down Shaheds with drones,” the president emphasized.
Zelensky noted that both urgent decisions and strategic steps were adopted, which are included in the internal defense plan for strengthening Ukraine.
On November 4, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC, reported that the North Korean military had already come under fire in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
Participation of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine
