At a meeting of the Euro Council, President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the EU to strengthen Ukraine’s support and to allocate at least 5 billion euros for artillery shells.

It is necessary that your support of Ukraine does not decrease, but on the contrary – continued and increased. This is especially true for air defense, military assistance and our general stability. We need funds for artillery shells, and we would be very grateful for European support of at least 5 billion euros in the shortest possible time, ”Zelensky said, quoted by the President’s office on Thursday, March 20.

He also emphasized the importance of investment in weapons production in Ukraine and EU countries.

Europe needs technological independence, including in the production of weapons. Everything necessary to protect the continent should be produced here in Europe. We have to work on this together, ”the Head of State said.

Zelensky focused on the potential of Ukrainian military technologies, in particular in the field of drones and radio electronic struggle, which can strengthen the security of all Europe. He emphasized that their further development and modernization depend on the investment of European partners.

Separately, the President stressed the need to maintain sanction pressure on Russia.

The sanctions must be stored until Russia begins to withdraw its troops from our land and completely compensate for the losses caused by its aggression, ”Zelensky said.

He urged Europe to deal with the bypass of the sanctions and prevent the financing of the Russian military machine.

We continue to push Russia to peace. Together with you, with the United States and other our partners, we can do it, ”the President of Ukraine summed up.

On March 15, Zelensky reported that Ukraine, together with international partners, has signed and has already paid the initiative to supply 155 mm artillery ammunition.

On February 25, the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fial reported that in 2024 Ukraine received 500,000 artillery shells as part of the Czech initiative.
