The Court of Appeal of the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court decided to dismiss the former People’s Deputy of Ukraine Valery Patskan from criminal liability due to the expiration of limitation periods.
He was accused of illegally receiving compensation for housing, which qualifies as abuse of office under part one of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court found Patsan guilty, however, in view of the limitation period, he was released from punishment.
The panel of judges considered the petition of the party to release the Patskan from criminal liability and close the proceedings. The appeal of the prosecutor was left unattended, and the request of the defense was satisfied.
Thus, the BCS verdict was canceled and the criminal proceedings against the Patskan were closed precisely because of the limitation period of prosecution.
According to the Center for Combating Corruption, it is about Valery Patskan, who previously held the position of MP.
On October 9, 2023, Wax found him guilty of abuse of office in receiving illegal compensation for housing.
Then the Patskan was sentenced to two years of restriction, but immediately released from serving his sentence because of the same time limits.
After that, the VAKS sentence was appealed to the appeal instance, which closed the criminal proceedings, citing the absence of the crime in the actions of Patskan.
However, the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office disagreed with these decisions and filed a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court.
The Criminal Court of Cassation of the Supreme Court partially granted the complaint of the prosecutor and sent the case for a new consideration to the WACS appeal.
We will remind, on April 9, 2025, the WACS partially satisfied the claim of the Specialized Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) on civil confiscation of unreasonable assets used by the family of police officer of the Kharkiv District Department of the National Police.
We also reported that the Supreme Anti -Corruption Court has extended the duties for externally Maxim Nikitas in the case of seizure of more than 300 million UAH of the Ministry of Defense until June 9 this year.
