On December 12, Mykolaiv will say goodbye to Volodymyr Yakovlev, known as the Professor, who died on September 10 in the Kharkiv region.

Volodymyr was an active plastun: in 2019, he participated in the restoration of Mykolaiv township, participated in numerous plastun activities and passed regional education in Kherson.
He received his education in Mykolaiv: after school No. 49, he studied at a professional lyceum, and later graduated from the Mechanical and Mathematical Faculty of the Moscow State University named after Sukhomlynskyi, majoring in Computer Science. He worked at the factory and at Novaya Poshta, was fond of literature and was preparing his own fantasy and prose book “The Stone” for publication.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, he remained in the city, volunteered, and in August 2024 signed a contract with the Armed Forces. He served in the artillery reconnaissance division of the 40th separate artillery brigade named after Grand Duke Vytautas.
On September 10, 2025, Volodymyr died at positions in the Kharkiv region as a result of an enemy drone attack. For some time he was considered missing. The deceased is survived by his elder brother, parents and relatives.
It will be recalled that Lieutenant Colonel Ivanov was killed in the east during a combat sortie.
Valery Lytvyn, a musician and soldier, also died at the front.
