The mass media continue to reveal the connections of former deputy general prosecutor Dmytro Verbytskyi with pressure on sea carriers who complain about unjustified detention of their cargoes and extortion of money. So far, it has become known about a possible connection between the management of the terminal in the “Southern” Sea Trade Port and Verbytskyi, as well as its former chief Andriy Kostin.
According to the Figurant portal, Verbytskyi and Kostin may be related to Raido Terminal LLC, which provides a full range of logistics services for transshipment of goods in the state-owned Pivdenny Sea Trade Port. It is noted that the joint godfather of Kostin and Verbytskyi – lawyer Oleksandr Kozlov – is behind the LLC. According to the portal’s sources, it is Kozlov who monitors the operation of the “schemes” in the state port “Pivdenny”. The financial activities of the port are carried out through “Raido Terminal” LLC.
And it is not small: the company, as a logistics terminal, has already managed to show a turnover of UAH 180 million in the incomplete year of 2023. And for 10 months of 2024 – 312 million. UAH And that’s with only two employees on staff.
Pressure on carriers
Previously, the TSN project of exclusive investigations “Khapuga.UA” reported on the unjustified detention of ships with cargo allegedly due to non-payment of taxes. According to Viktor Berestenko, president of the Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine, for the further movement of goods, entrepreneurs must first go to Bebivtsi, pay a bribe of $100,000 per vessel, agree to a permanent payment of such bribes, and only then obtain permission to send a vessel with grain.
The investigation reports that since September, several food exporters have appealed to the human rights movement “Manifest 42” due to the detention of grain ships due to non-payment of taxes. According to them, the customs officials had no claims against the cargo, the tax authorities have no claims against the consignor, but the ships will be detained by the BEB in the ports. According to a representative of the movement, no such delay has resulted in the collection of allegedly unpaid taxes.
According to people familiar with the situation, the head of the main unit of BEB detectives, Oleksandr Tkachuk, is involved in the pressure on grain traders, who in the summer caused a traffic accident with serious consequences for the victim in an undeclared expensive car. It is also associated with the pressure of Dmytro Verbytskyi, since the prosecutor’s office exercises procedural control over the detectives of the Security Intelligence Service.
In the light of new information about the relationship of the godfather Verbytskyi and the former Prosecutor General Kostin to the contracts in the Pivdenny port, it becomes clear that the prosecutors are interested in sea carriers.
Big politics
Having received such a permanent source of funding, you can think about big politics. Telegram channel “Joker” was the first to report that Verbytskyi started cooperating with the All-Ukrainian Association “Batkivshchyna”.
Verbytskyi himself denies his involvement in “Batkivshchyna”. But recently his wife Khrystyna Ilnytska was spotted in Odesa at a social event together with party leader Yulia Tymoshenko.
It will be recalled that the UA.News news agency made a journalistic request for the name of Yulia Tymoshchenko, head of the All-Ukrainian Association “Batkivshchyna” Political Party, in order to obtain official information about Verbytskyi’s membership in her party. The request was sent on December 19, 2024. We have not received an answer yet.
The UA.News news agency received information about the results of an independent examination of the value of the business center in Odesa, which is owned by the former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Dmytro Verbytskyi.
