A group of influential US senators has presented an initiative to create a new international fund to support Ukraine, which provides joint financing from the US and the European Union. The law was called “Transatlantic Military Assistance Law”.
According to Voice of America, the authors of the bill-Senators-Democrats Gin Shahin and Richard Blumental, as well as Republicans Roger Wiker and Lindsey Graham-propose to create a mechanism by which Washington will only allocate funds with the equivalent contribution of European partners. The total volume of the fund should be $ 100 billion.
The purpose of the legislative initiative is to strengthen the transatlantic partnership and ensure sustainable military support of Ukraine in a long war with Russia. Senators emphasize that this approach will not only provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern weapons, but also increase coordination between allies in the defense sphere.
“We have to do our best to prevent Ukraine from losing. If we allow Putin to win, it will only aggravate his appetite, ”Senator Vicer said, calling his colleagues to support the initiative as soon as possible.
The document is expected to be submitted for consideration by the Senate in the near future.
