During the low season, “Ukrzaliznytsia” will provide free seats within the framework of the “3000 km in Ukraine” program.
According to Oleksandr Pertsovsky, the chairman of the board of the company, such tickets will account for up to 10% of the total number of seats.
On average, this is about 200-250 thousand seats every month – this is what usually remains unfulfilled on basic flights during periods of the lowest demand.
The official noted that the initiative is designed for passengers who are not tied to specific dates and can postpone their trip to a less busy time.
According to the results of the company’s survey, about 40% of customers are ready to flexibly plan their travel time. Free tickets will be an additional incentive for such passengers, which will help evenly distribute the load on trains throughout the year.
According to Pertsovsky, tickets within the program will appear on the same flights where standard seats will be sold. If, for example, a certain train is usually only 80% full, the remaining 20% of seats will go to the “kilometers” program.
At the same time, the company will monitor demand: if the free tickets are not sold, they will be returned to general sale. During peak periods – during holidays or vacations – all seats will be sold for cash only.
We will remind you that Ukrzaliznytsia is facing significant financial difficulties.
Also, in 2026, “Ukrzaliznytsia” will launch 11 new trains.
