The national operator “Ukrenergo” records an increase in electricity consumption due to a decrease in temperature – the company announced this on October 15.

According to Ukrenergo, on Tuesday the level of consumption at 9:30 a.m. was 3% higher than the day before:

“Yesterday, October 14, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was 3.3% higher than the previous working day – on Friday, October 11. The reason for such dynamics is a decrease in air temperature throughout the territory of Ukraine.”

“Ukrenergo” reminds of the shortage of power in the power system during the hours of peak consumption and asks to use powerful electrical appliances during the period of the most efficient operation of solar power plants – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As of Tuesday morning, according to the operator, due to hostilities and other reasons, 495 settlements were completely or partially cut off this morning. As a result of Russian aggression, there are new blackouts in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv regions.

During the day, it is planned to import electricity from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Moldova with a total volume of 6,478 megawatt-hours.

Recently, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko stated that Ukraine is capable of going through the winter of 2024-2025 without power outages, if Russian forces fail to destroy critical energy infrastructure facilities that survived previous attacks. This is how he reacted to the UN report, in which the probable duration of power outages in Ukraine in winter was estimated to be from four to 18 hours a day.

Currently, there are no blackout schedules in Ukraine, as was the case in the summer, but with the approach of winter, the Ministry of Energy reminds that rational consumption will help energy companies keep the energy system balanced.

Earlier we wrote that Ukraine can go through the winter without blackouts if the occupiers do not attack the surviving energy facilities.

As of the morning of October 14, the level of electricity consumption in Ukraine corresponded to seasonal indicators.

We will also remind that in the southern region, for technological reasons, the high-voltage overhead line connecting the energy systems of Ukraine and Moldova was disconnected, which led to a decrease in voltage at one of the energy facilities.
