Since November 25, 2020, citizens of Ukraine have declared 2,500 firearms and 430,000 rounds of ammunition.
Vyacheslav Savchenko, head of the Arms Control Department of the National Police, announced this on the air of the telethon.
“Since the beginning of the declaration, since November 25, 2024, 2,178 citizens directly applied to the territorial units, who in turn declared 2,500 firearms,” Savchenko said.
He noted that citizens also declare ammunition.
“430,000 ammunitions have already been declared. If citizens want not only to declare, but also simply to surrender their firearms, because they want to avoid responsibility, they have the right to do so, and they have already taken advantage of this in 94 cases and surrendered 94 firearms, as well as more than 30,000 ammunition for her,” Savchenko said.
The following types of weapons are not subject to declaration:
- machine guns
- grenade launchers
- mortars
- flame throwers
It will be recalled that within three weeks after the procedure for declaring firearms started, more than a thousand firearms (including more than 350 assault rifles and 470 smoothbore rifles), as well as more than 80,000 ammunition, were declared to the National Police.
