The peak of the popularity of motorcycles in Ukraine traditionally fell in the summer months, and since September, the sales volumes begin to decrease, the IDA noted.
Usually, in the motorcycle segment, the majority of deals are sales of new imported motorcycles: 5,326 were sold in August (58.5% of all sales for the month).
New in Ukraine, mostly Chinese manufacturers buy motorcycle equipment, and the leaders of the month were the brands Musstang (821 first registrations), Spark (748) and Lifan (720). In general, the share of Chinese products was about 80% in the market of new motorcycles.
On the domestic market, 2,983 units of motorcycle equipment were sold, which accounted for 32.8% of the total number of sales. This segment is dominated by Japanese brands: Honda (382 sales contracts), Yamaha (274) and Lifan (210).
Only 8.8% of motorcycles (798 units) were imported used from abroad. Imports of motorcycles with mileage continue to be held by the Japanese brands Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. The products of these three manufacturers cover 64.1% of this market segment.
The IDA noted that the above figures are only official data recorded by the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The “shadow” part of the motorcycle market (in particular, the secondary market) is not taken into account, but it can be quite significant.
