The Security Service of Ukraine has apprehended a man in the Zakarpattia region who was attempting to register Starlink terminals on behalf of Russia.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was recruited through social media while seeking easy financial gains. He intended to involve his pregnant wife, an elderly relative, and a friend renting from him in his subversive activities.
Furthermore, if successful, the individual planned to recruit additional accomplices to activate even more terminals.
The suspect was detained at his residence, where a smartphone containing evidence of his collaboration with Russian operatives was confiscated during searches.
He has been charged under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces and other military formations. If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of up to eight years.
