On Saturday, January 17, the Ukrainian delegation headed by Rustem Umyerov, Kyryll Budanov and David Arakhamia will meet with American officials in Miami. The main goal is to finalize agreements on security and economic development of Ukraine. This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Olga Stefanishyna.
The Ukrainian side arrives in Florida to discuss with American partners key documents that should guarantee the security and support of the country’s economy for decades. Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA Olha Stefanishyna explained that the visit is necessary to “finalize agreements with American partners so that they meet the national interests of Ukraine as much as possible.”
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, according to the ambassador, emphasizes two important agreements – on security guarantees and economic prosperity of Ukraine. “The total volume of these agreements can reach up to 800 billion dollars, and they are planned to be signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos,” she noted. The purpose of the meeting in Miami is to agree on an economic agreement that will be a key part of the peace plan. It is planned that it will ensure the attraction of funds for ten years to restore infrastructure and develop the economy.
President Zelensky originally planned to visit the White House next week to sign the agreements, but European allies from the “coalition of the willing” advised holding final negotiations at the Davos forum. According to Ukrainian officials, the agreement is based on previous mineral agreements that give American investors preferential access to future mining projects. However, so far the document has remained confidential and has not been made public, unlike the 20-point peace plan.
European representatives, who are also participating in the peace negotiations, advise not to hurry and carefully agree on all the details, because Ukraine’s future strategy in the international arena will depend on it. “The plan is aimed at attracting about $800 billion over ten years to rebuild Ukraine and jump-start its economy,” Ukrainian officials added.
