The Ukrainian military is actively developing multiple tactical options across various fronts to prevent Russian forces from seizing the initiative and to disrupt their offensive operations. This ongoing strategic planning is crucial for maintaining defensive capabilities.
In response to inquiries regarding previously planned operations that did not materialize, military spokesperson Oleksandr Komarenko emphasized that such assessments are a continuous process. “Efforts to identify potential courses of action are ongoing. If a particular direction is selected for development but not executed at that time, it does not preclude future operations in that area,” he stated.
Komarenko noted that there have been instances where military strategies were prepared but not implemented initially. However, these plans can be revisited, as demonstrated last year when the military returned to earlier strategies but executed them in different operational contexts.
He highlighted the importance of intelligence in shaping defensive strategies. “Our reconnaissance is active. Based on enemy actions, we plan our defensive responses. If we do not maintain the initiative and merely react, we risk being overwhelmed. Therefore, we are specifically planning actions that will compel the enemy to alter their strategies,” he added.
Furthermore, Komarenko indicated that defensive actions are being planned for areas where the enemy is expected to advance, while other strategies will aim to force the adversary into unexpected scenarios advantageous to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “These will not necessarily involve direct military engagement; we are also preparing asymmetric actions that will catch the enemy off guard,” he concluded.
The Ukrainian military is focused on developing tactical options to counter Russian offensives and maintain initiative on the battlefield. Ongoing strategic planning includes revisiting earlier military strategies and preparing for both defensive and asymmetric actions to disrupt enemy operations.
