For the first time, Ukrainian manufacturers took part in a series of international tenders consisting of two lots: for the production of advanced FPV drones with autonomous functions and stable communication, as well as interceptor drones.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
It is noted that Ukrainian manufacturers became the first in terms of the number of applications in a series of international tenders for the production of UAV interceptor drones – submitting 32% of the total number. In advanced FPV drones, Ukrainian companies were second with a result of 26% of submitted proposals.
“Such number of proposals from our companies proves that we are achieving our goal of scaling drone production in Ukraine. This already helps to create an asymmetric advantage in technology over the enemy. Especially in the context of interceptor drones, as our companies have the best expertise in the manufacture and application of such technologies. We want to push the world industry so that such drones go into mass production,” said Kateryna Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digitalization.
The Ministry of Defense said that the acceptance of applications for the production of advanced FPV drones ended in October, and the collection of proposals for the creation of interceptor drones – on November 11.
“Companies that win tenders will receive orders for drones that will be tested and evaluated. If their designs show good results at this stage, more voluminous orders for FPV drones from the winning manufacturers are planned,” the message reads.
We will remind that Nordic Wing, the Danish manufacturer of long-range ASTERO ISR drones, will train Ukrainian military personnel in handling these UAVs.
Ukraine and Lithuania signed a memorandum on the joint production of drones, ammunition and electronic warfare equipment.
Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur discussed the possibility of purchasing drones from Ukraine at a meeting with the head of the country’s Defense Forces, Andrus Meriloo.
