In the early hours of April 5, Ukrainian Defense Forces launched strikes against several significant targets associated with the Russian military and its infrastructure. One of the primary sites affected was the Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, where a large fire erupted following the attack.
The refinery plays a crucial role in supplying fuel to the Moscow region and the Russian military, with an annual production capacity of 17 million tons. It produces over 50 types of products, including aviation and diesel fuels, which are utilized by the Russian military-industrial complex and occupying forces.
Additionally, Ukrainian military sources confirmed a fire at the Primorsk port on the Baltic Sea, one of Russia’s largest facilities for transporting petroleum products. Another target was an aviation equipment storage facility in Saki, located in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
The strikes also targeted concentrations of enemy personnel in the areas of Berezove and Novomykolaivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as in Huliaipole, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Yalynske in Donetsk Oblast.
The extent of the damage inflicted and enemy losses are currently being assessed.
Recently, drone systems have repeatedly struck important enemy sites in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Earlier in April, a joint operation by the drone forces and intelligence successfully targeted an An-72P aircraft and destroyed a storage facility containing Russian Orion strike drones in Crimea. Furthermore, drone operators, in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, targeted the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant, halting production there. At the end of March, Ukrainian forces disrupted the launch of Gerbera drones and destroyed a Tor air defense system in the Donetsk direction.
Ukrainian forces have intensified their offensive, striking key Russian military infrastructure, including a major oil refinery and a port. These actions are part of a broader strategy to disrupt Russian military operations and logistics in the region.
