Ukrainian military units, including Lasar’s Group and the 429th Separate Brigade of the Achilles Battalion, successfully identified and neutralized a Russian S-400 Triumph missile system, valued at approximately one billion dollars. This operation significantly impacts Russian air defense capabilities in the Kharkiv region.
According to a statement from the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU), the operation followed extensive analytical work and aerial reconnaissance conducted by the 429th Brigade, which pinpointed the location of the enemy missile system. The intelligence was subsequently relayed to the strike drone unit of Lasar’s Group.
After receiving the location details, the unit executed a precise strike on the S-400 system, resulting in its destruction. The NGU noted that this action has considerably diminished the effectiveness of Russian air defense operations in the area.
In related developments, on the night of March 2, Ukrainian Defense Forces targeted critical military installations in Crimea and Luhansk, hitting rare radar stations among other assets. Previous strikes had also targeted command points and supply depots, leading to reported fires from Belgorod to temporarily occupied territories.
Moreover, Ukrainian defenders have recently conducted attacks on rear enemy targets, including a fuel depot and a drone command center. At the end of February, special operations forces executed a successful operation behind enemy lines, resulting in significant losses for Russian troops, including the destruction of a Buk missile system, a Uragan multiple rocket launcher, and a command center.
In January, a special operations group from the 8th Special Forces Regiment carried out successful missions in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region. They identified a group of Russian soldiers holding positions in a damaged supermarket and nearby residential building, resulting in the elimination of two enemy combatants and the capture of another two.
