Ukrainian military forces have successfully repelled continuous attempts by Russian troops to capture Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region for nearly a year. Despite persistent assaults, the Ukrainian defenders have maintained their positions and inflicted significant losses on the enemy.
According to military officials, Russian forces have been trying to enhance their tactical advantage in this area by launching coordinated attacks involving small infantry groups and large-scale drone strikes. General Syrskyi highlighted the resilience and adaptability of Ukrainian troops in responding to the evolving battlefield conditions.
He stated, “The priority remains on targeting the logistical support of the occupiers, neutralizing enemy infantry at the onset of assaults, and preserving the lives of our soldiers amid high-intensity combat operations.” This strategic focus aims to mitigate the impact of the ongoing conflict on Ukrainian forces.
In late March, Russian military operations intensified as they initiated a spring-summer offensive in the Donetsk region, primarily targeting the Lyman area, which serves as a gateway to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Ukrainian command has indicated that during this offensive, the enemy is expected to continue efforts to seize Kostiantynivka, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk.
Ukrainian forces are effectively defending Kostiantynivka against ongoing Russian attacks, showcasing adaptability and strategic focus. The situation remains critical as Russian troops intensify their offensive efforts in the Donetsk region.
