In March, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported a 29% increase in the total personnel losses inflicted on Russian troops by drone units. This development highlights the ongoing strategic advantage held by Ukrainian forces, which have effectively prevented a large-scale resurgence of Russian military operations.
According to General Syrsky, a key factor contributing to this advantage is the deployment of drone units, which have been responsible for delivering significant and effective strikes against enemy positions. Over the past four months, starting from December 2025, these units have consistently neutralized more enemy personnel than the Russian military has managed to recruit.
The data from March indicates that Ukrainian drone units executed an average of over 11,000 combat missions daily. Compared to February, the number of verified targets struck increased by 50%, totaling more than 150,000.
General Syrsky also noted the enhanced effectiveness of Ukraine’s Middle Strike capabilities, which included:
- Nearly 350 strikes targeting operational depth (30-120 km).
- Destruction of 143 logistics and supply points, 52 command centers of the Russian army, and 20 oil and energy sector facilities.
Furthermore, the positions of enemy drone pilots were suppressed by 26% more in March than in February. Syrsky attributed this success to a combination of advancements in domestic drone technology, improved operator skills, and strategic organizational decisions.
Additionally, Ukrainian ground robotic complexes increased their operational tasks by more than 50% compared to the previous month. However, Russian forces are also adapting; intelligence reports indicate that as of early April, the number of personnel in their drone units has expanded to 101,000, with plans to increase this figure to 165,500 by the end of 2026.
