At the age of 24, Ukrainian director Serhii Sasin died of a serious illness.

Serhiy Sasin was born on May 23, 2001 in Kyiv. “Despite his young age, he managed to make a significant contribution to the development of modern Ukrainian art,” the message reads.

The artist worked at the Kyiv Academic Theater of Drama and Comedy on the left bank of the Dnieper, held the position of head of the literary and dramaturgical department, coordinated work with young artists and developed new theater projects.

Sasin rose to fame as the director of Nesmiyana (2022), a film about 13-year-old dancer Lesya, who seeks freedom in the world of her own imagination. The picture became a notable statement on the themes of psychological vulnerability and growing up.
