Zelensky emphasized that oil exports are the basis of “Russian arrogance”, and if sanctions are maintained and strengthened, Russia will lose significantly. According to him, the loss of 50 billion dollars is a strong argument “for Russia to have a motive to end this war.”
The president added that Ukraine is also in contact with the American side, expecting that the key states will support such a course. A reduction in Russian oil imports by India and China is already visible, but it is necessary to ensure that there is no circumvention of sanctions through third countries. A reduction in Russian oil would mean a reduction in Russian war, “and there should be no exceptions to this for anyone, including Hungary.”
Zelenskyi also noted that Russians are already thinking about how to sell their enterprises, in particular in Europe, because they will not be able to work.
Meanwhile, the new sanctions against Lukoil and Rosneft have had no effect on the export of Russian oil. Russia continues to push oil through Primorsk, Ust-Luga and Novorossiysk in almost the same amount – about 2.33 million barrels per day.
