The cost of the war is constantly increasing: if one day of fighting was worth $ 140 million a year ago, now $ 172 million. This amount includes the salaries of the military, ammunition, weapons, as well as the support of the wounded, the missing persons and the families of the dead.
Currently, 31% of Ukraine’s GDP is on defense – this is the highest figure in the world.
“Ukraine is strong and stable, but it needs help,” Podlas said.
In general, half of these needs are planned to be financed by the Ukrainian budget and the other part is international military aid.
For comparison, last year, Russia spent about $ 150 billion in war, Podlas said.
Earlier, the Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko stated that despite the hope of completion of the war in 2025, the state budget project for 2026 was formed on an alternative scenario – taking into account hostilities throughout the year.
