Ukraine conducted the first official dialogue with Hungary to regulate problematic issues through which the Hungarian side blocked negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU. Ukraine has already submitted its proposals and is waiting for a response on May 12.
Viceremierk on European and Euro -Atlantic integration – Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olga Stephanyshyn on the air of the National Marathon told about it.
The meeting of Ukrainian and Hungarian delegations was held in Budapest. The Ukrainian side has provided proposals to regulate the whole complex of issues that are concerned about the Hungarian side.
“This is not only the beginning of the negotiations, there are already specific proposals,” Stephanishina emphasized.
In the near future, the delegations are planning to start working on the proposals of the parties in order to obtain an intermediate result by May 12.
Viceremierka added that after this date, Ukraine and Hungary agreed to carry out regular consultations until “we will” define the whole list of tasks within the eleven recommendations that are the subject of concern of the Hungarian side. “
“I hope that this dialogue will have every chance to pave the way to unlock the negotiation process at least,” Stephanishina said.
Unresolved problematic issues between Budapest and Kiev should not be the reason for delaying the process of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Georgy Tykhy.
It should also be reminded that the Hungarian government has announced the start of a national consultation, in which citizens of the country are asked if they support Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
