Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that Ukraine is prepared to take reciprocal actions in response to Russia’s announced Easter ceasefire.
Zelensky’s Reaction
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has repeatedly proposed a ceasefire during the Easter celebrations and will now act accordingly. “People need Easter without threats and a genuine move towards peace, and Russia has the opportunity to refrain from strikes even after Easter,” the president stated.
Earlier, the Kremlin announced that President Vladimir Putin had ordered a halt to military operations across all fronts from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, coinciding with Orthodox Easter. He has already issued the relevant directives to his Minister of Defense and the Chief of General Staff.
President Zelensky's response to Russia's Easter ceasefire highlights Ukraine's readiness for reciprocal measures. The situation underscores ongoing tensions despite attempts at temporary peace during the holiday.
