President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that thanks to the Grain from Ukraine program (Grain From Ukraine), launched in the fall of 2022, managed to save 20 million people around the world from hunger.
He announced this during the 3rd International Conference on Food Security Grain From Ukraine on Saturday, November 23, the Office of the President informs.
“In total, 20 million people have been saved from starvation during the Grain from Ukraine program. And this is only thanks to one of our humanitarian programs. In general, Ukrainian food exports provide 400 million people in 100 countries of the world,” Zelenskyi said.
The President emphasized that Ukraine remains one of the world’s largest food security donors.
“And we keep this our meaning despite everything. Despite such a colonial challenge from Russia. This war is a war against the lives of Ukrainians, against our people, our families. I want to remind you that the full-scale Russian invasion began, in particular, with the blockade of Ukrainian ports by the Russian fleet. It started with this. And Russia understood very well what the consequences would be from this,” he added.
Zelenskyi also emphasized the importance of further cooperation between Ukraine and the world to protect food security and the security of supplies of other critical goods.
