Ukraine Prepares for Potential Increased Attacks Amid Warnings from National Security Officials

The Ukrainian government is on high alert as officials warn of a possible surge in missile strikes from Russian forces in the coming days. The National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) has urged citizens to remain vigilant and heed air raid alerts.

According to Oleksandr Kovalenko, a representative from the NSDC’s Center for Countering Disinformation, heightened caution is particularly necessary in the immediate future as the threat of bombardment looms.

In recent months, Russian military operations have intensified, characterized by a series of large-scale, combined assaults utilizing various types of missiles and drones. Key targets have included energy infrastructure and water supply systems, which are critical to civilian life.

On a recent night, Russian forces launched 29 missiles at Ukraine, the majority of which were ballistic, alongside 480 drones. Major cities such as Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv experienced the brunt of these attacks, with additional strikes reported in Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions, among others. Casualties included children, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the violence.

The strikes have also resulted in damage to several ports, prompting safety measures that included the suspension of approximately 20 trains overnight.

Ukrainian officials are warning of a potential increase in Russian missile strikes, urging citizens to heed air raid alerts. Recent attacks have intensified, targeting critical infrastructure and resulting in civilian casualties.
