Interpol now refuses to seek Russian military criminals at the request of Ukraine, as it is a party to the armed conflict. However, there are ways to force the organization to do it.

This was stated by the Head of the Department of International Police Cooperation of the National Police of Ukraine Vitaliy Kaspa at a briefing.

He explained that the separate mechanism of Interpol aimed at using genocide tools, crimes against humanity and war crimes could not be used at the request of Ukraine.

“It cannot be used on our requests in view of certain reservations that they see in a situation where there is an armed conflict. We, as a country, appeal with the appropriate request and are the party to this armed conflict. And thanks to such a mutual and broad assessment, they came to the conclusion that such a situation can harm the interests of Interpol and its Member States, ”Kasap explained.

But Ukraine wants to use the Resolution of the General Assembly Interpol, whose mechanisms will be able to bring to justice military criminals. Such a resolution involves three situations where Interpol can handle requests. The first – the request is submitted by the International Tribunal, for example, the International Criminal Court.

“For example, the ISS may request a red notification about its persons, and in this case, the General Secretariat of Interpol should be considered and, if everything is right, they will publish,” Kasap added.

The second situation is that the request sends a specially created body to consider a particular situation. Such a body must be created by the UN Security Council.

And the third situation is a request for a particular country.

At the same time, he noted that in the case of providing mechanisms and instruments of the 2010 resolution, the requests of Ukraine for Russian military criminals will be automatically directed to the Russian Federation, and accordingly it should give consent.

Recall that the Russian Federation has long used Interpol as a tool for political persecution. Back in 2017, the Central Bureau of Interpol sent a warning to all Member States of the International Police Union to ignore requests from the Russian Federation. Thus, the organization responded to the attempt of the Russian authorities to use Interpol to persecute the bad. Yes, Interpol denied the Russian Federation in the request for the wanted Yatsenyuk.

At the same time, Interpol refused to search for three suspects in the murder of the Crimean Reserve Ametov, who was tortured by pro -Russian terrorists in 2014.

During the entrance to Turkey, a journalist of the Crimean Tatar TV channel was detained. Russia has wanted it through Interpol.

Earlier, the Association of International Automobile Carriers of Ukraine announced the collection of data of truckers who left the cars to the owners without returning them. Such drivers will be considered as kidnappers of property and will be sought through Interpol.
