The Government of Ukraine appealed to the countries of the European Union to submit proposals for candidates to the Supervisory Board of Energoatom NAEC. This is the first step in the process of cleaning up and improving the effectiveness of anti-corruption policy in the energy sector.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko, announced this after informing the ambassadors of the EU countries about the actions of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers.
The Prime Minister noted that European diplomats positively noted these steps, and the government’s goal is to ensure the transparency of the work of the executive power through interaction and joint work with anti-corruption bodies. According to Svyridenko, “the fight against corruption is important for national security and decisive for Ukraine’s path to the EU.”
The next stages of the energy sector reform will be the audit and renewal of the supervisory boards of a number of other state-owned enterprises, such as Naftogaz, Ukrhydroenergo, GTS Operator of Ukraine, Centrenergo and Ukrenergo, with the aim of updating their management. Ukraine will also consider the possibility of involving international auditors in this process. Budgetary needs of Ukraine for 2026 became a separate topic of negotiations with the ambassadors.
We will remind you that the government has started an audit of all state-owned companies.
Also, in Ukraine, the audit of “Energoatom” started after the exposure of a large-scale corruption scheme in the company.
