Ukraine is ready for peace talks in any format, but the Russian Federation should demonstrate its readiness for a long cessation of fire.
Andriy Sibiga, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, wrote about it on the social network.
“Ukraine once again confirms its readiness for peace talks in any format, as soon as we see that the Russian Federation is really ready for a difficult way to peace, not just for” peaceful populism “or short-term propaganda cease ceasefire for the parade on May 9,” the minister said.
He noted that Russia can demonstrate its true readiness for peace talks by agreeing to a real cease ceasefire for at least 30 days.
“If Russia is ready for a 60- or 90-day ceasefire, we are also ready,” Sibiga said.
The head of Ukraine’s foreign policy department stressed that Russia should stop talking about its readiness for peace and start acting, unconditionally agreeing to the real and long ceasefire.
“When the fire stops, negotiations can begin-in any format that will bring peace,” Sibiga stressed.
At the same time, the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak noted that Russia does not seek peace, but wants to “freeze” the war to continue aggression.
We will remind that in the Kremlin stated that Vladimir Putin made a decision to introduce the so-called “truce” on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of “Victory Day”.
The White House stated that such a ceasefire is not enough, Trump seeks to achieve true and constant peace.
