The new format is associated with large-scale damage to the energy infrastructure as a result of massive attacks by the Russian Federation and the need to stabilize the energy system.
Energy companies warn that the usual “soft” schedules no longer work, and citizens will have to adapt to much tougher conditions.
General director of the YASNO company, Serhii Kovalenko, explained that the country is moving to schedules of “4.5-5 queues”, while earlier more than four queues meant emergency shutdowns outside of any lists.
According to him, the old guidelines – up to 7 hours without light and 3.5 hours with light – are no longer relevant.
In fact, Ukrainians have to prepare for a situation when electricity will be available for a much smaller part of the day than before, and this is becoming a new reality.
Under “5 of 6” restrictions, outages can stretch for more than 16 hours, leaving people with only a few hours of power.
In Kyiv, according to Kovalenko, there is a regime of emergency blackouts: about 3 hours with light and about 10 hours without it, although the specific situation differs depending on the district of the city.
At the same time, many problems are related not only to the general energy system, but also to accidents on home networks, for which “ZHEK” and “OSBB” are responsible.
