Ukraine Investigates Mass Influx of Unfit Soldiers in Military Unit

Authorities in Ukraine are conducting a thorough investigation following the arrival of approximately 2,000 individuals deemed unfit for military service due to health issues at a military unit. This situation has raised significant concerns regarding the mobilization process.

Olia Reshetilova, the military ombudsman, highlighted the gravity of the situation, indicating that the influx of unfit personnel necessitated the involvement of the Ministry of Defense and the Ground Forces Command to identify the point of systemic failure.

“It is essential to fully examine how this occurred and at what stage the breakdown happened. Was it at the Territorial Recruitment Center, the Medical Commission, or within the military unit itself? Was a decision made at a higher level?” Reshetilova stated.

The military ombudsman emphasized that this incident cannot be dismissed as a mere fact, as it involves the mobilization of 2,000 individuals who are unfit for service. She questioned how such a situation could arise in the first place.

Further details regarding this incident, as well as other complaints from military personnel, issues related to soldier salaries, and common causes of health disqualifications, will be elaborated upon in an interview with Olia Reshetilova scheduled for April 6.

An investigation is underway in Ukraine after 2,000 individuals unfit for military service were mobilized. The military ombudsman has called for a thorough examination of the processes that allowed this situation to occur.
