Ukraine in July will switch to nominal voltage in the 230/400 volt

From July 1, 2025, Ukraine will be in force in Ukraine, harmonized with European requirements – in particular, there will be a transition to a nominal voltage of 230/400 V. The National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Community Services (NERCEP) will be informed. It is noted that in March 2024 the standard DSTU EN 50160: 2014, which determined the characteristics of the power supply voltage”, – WRITE ON: ua.news

From July 1, 2025, Ukraine will be in force in Ukraine, harmonized with European requirements – in particular, there will be a transition to a nominal voltage of 230/400 V.

About it reports the National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the fields of energy and community services (NERCEP).

It is noted that in March 2024 the standard DSTU EN 50160: 2014 was invalid, which determined the characteristics of the power supply voltage in electrical networks. Instead, in May of that year, the standard, harmonized with the European EN 50160, was approved by the method of translation, taking into account the year of its initial acceptance as national confirmation.

The latter came into force on March 1, 2025.

In turn, at the meeting on April 15, the NERCEP approved amendments to the Code of distribution system in order to improve and adapt it to new technical standards and schedules of consumption.

“Thus, from 01.07.2025, European approaches to determining the quality of power supply parameters will be operated in Ukraine, in particular – the transition to a rated voltage 230/400 V. One of the key innovations is to establish clear limits of permissible voltage deviation: from 207 to 253 V (± 10% of the nominal value of 230 V)”.

The energy regulator expects changes to have a positive impact on the quality of power supply. Yes, stable voltage will reduce the risks of damage to household appliances, sensitive to fluctuations, as well as reduce the need for additional protective equipment such as stabilizers. In addition, it will help to increase energy efficiency – electrical appliances will be able to operate in optimal mode, without overload and loss of power.

As it was reported, the October 2024 group of People’s Deputies registered the bill “On Amendments to the Laws of Ukraine on the Combination of Electricity Markets of Ukraine and the European Union”. The provisions of the draft law stipulate that the decisions of the EU Agency on Energy Regulators (ACER) will be binding on the national energy regulator (NERCEP) and market participants.

The European Investment Bank mobilizes up to 1 billion euros in Ukraine to help restore critical infrastructure and business.

Recently, Ukraine and the European Investment Bank have concluded agreements on the EIB loan. 16.5 million euros will go to restore critical infrastructure and introduction of energy efficiency, and 100 million euros- the restoration of water and heat supply facilities, sewage.
