During his speech at the 76th session of the Nordic Council of Europe in Iceland, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated that Ukraine has the right to real and lasting peace, not just a temporary lull in the war unleashed by Russia.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian people deserve the opportunity to live and develop their culture without fear of new invasions.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of returning Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia and condemned the practice of their forced relocation, which he described as genocide. He urged the international community not to forget about the stolen future of Ukrainian children and emphasized that real peace is possible only if international law and Ukraine’s sovereignty are restored.
The President also called for effective sanctions against Russia, support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, development of joint production and unity in the European context. He noted that the support of the countries of Northern Europe is significant, and emphasized that Ukraine aspires to join the EU and NATO.
Concluding his speech, Zelensky called on his partners to take decisive action to end the war and ensure real, not illusory, peace for Ukraine.
