Thanks to strong e-sports teams, Ukraine has a high chance of leadership in this type of sport at the upcoming Olympic Games.
This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vitaly Lavrov in an interview with UA.News.
“It is important that Ukraine is traditionally strong in eSports and has well-known teams, so at the upcoming Olympics we have every chance to be among the leaders. After updating the leadership of the eSports Federation and restarting its work, a real potential for systematic training of athletes appeared. If countries are currently building their participation models, then Ukraine is already actively choosing a place in the future Olympic eSports movement,” the deputy minister emphasized.
In his opinion, in order for eSports to develop as a sport in Ukraine, the eSports Federation should work with the competition system and increase the number of such competitions.
“For the athletes to clearly understand where and how they can then perform and what to achieve. Now the main task of the Federation is to restore this system. In principle, there is competition, but I am not sure that there is room for development,” noted Vitaliy Lavrov.
Earlier we reported that Ukraine has started a new stage of preparations for the first ever eSports Olympic Games.
In the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well hope that the leadership of the eSports Federation will solve the problem of players going abroad.
